Pussy Island, Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut starring Channing Tatum, gets new title

The movie about a tech billionaire and a sketchy island will be released this summer under a new name.

Zoë Kravitz fans only have to wait a little longer to see her directorial debut. However, they'll no longer be able to proudly exclaim that they're going to Pussy Island before driving to the theater.

The High Fidelity star's film, originally titled Pussy Island, has been renamed and given a release date, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed to EW. The thriller has adopted the more family-friendly title Blink Twice, as well as a late summer release date of Aug. 23.

Previously, Kravitz said the title was integral to the story. "The title came from that world. The title is the seed of the story," she told The Wall Street Journal. "It represents this time where it would be acceptable for a group of men to call a place that, and the illusion that we're out of that time now." While that may be the thematic heart of the story, it won't be on the posters.

The movie stars Channing Tatum as a tech billionaire who invites a cocktail waitress, played by Naomi Ackie, to join him and some friends for a dream trip to his private island. No plot with that beginning is going to turn out well, and this story is no exception. "It's gonna be a crazy movie, man," Tatum tells EW. "It's a crazy thriller."

"I play someone a little darker than I've ever played," Tatum continues. "We are definitely exploring some very uncomfortable themes, and, I don't want to give away too much, but I've definitely never played a character like [this]. It was scary to play, because it's definitely going to be a talk piece when it comes out. I think people are really gonna want to talk about it. That's kind of the point, in a way. It's meant to unsettle you."

The movie also features Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis. Blink Twice was co-written by Kravitz and High Fidelity writer E.T. Feigenbaum. It will arrive in August, toting a title that will likely raise no eyebrows.
