One familiar face will not be firing questions at the Republican candidates for president at the next GOP debate.
Maria Bartiromo will not be one of the moderators for the second GOP debate ahead of the 2024 presidential election, set to air Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 9/8c on Fox Business. Instead, Fox News’ Stuart Varney and Dana Perino and Univision’s Ilia Calderón will co-moderate the debate, Fox Business announced on Wednesday. (Bartiromo co-moderated with Neil Cavuto the last time Fox Business hosted a GOP debate in 2016.)
“We are very proud to have Stuart Varney and Dana Perino co-moderating the second debate with Univision to provide Americans with a comprehensive view of the qualifying candidates vying for the Republican nomination for president,” Fox News president and executive editor Jay Wallace said in a statement.
Bartiromo’s absence from the moderator list is conspicuous, but not unexpected. Her shows on Fox News and Fox Business played host to a number of guests claiming that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump — claims that led to a whopping $787 million settlement paid by Fox News to electronic voting company Dominion Voting Systems. Bartiromo is also a defendant in a pending $2.7 billion lawsuit by another electronic voting company, Smartmatic, along with her employer Fox News.
The first GOP debate of the 2024 election drew 13 million viewers earlier this month on Fox News, despite the fact that current frontrunner Donald Trump did not participate. Debate No. 1 moderators Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum earned an average TVLine reader grade of “C-” for their performance, while 30% of those who participated in our poll said Nikki Haley won the debate.
No watching Fox anyway but Maria needs to go to Newsmax – much better place for her away from the sinking ship.
They let her pretty much do whatever she wants on her Sunday show. Her morning show on Fox Business gets better ratings than Newsmax does in primetime so that would be a bad move.
She would be the best moderator but Fox News has made some questionable decisions about their talent lately.
Seriously? She is not all there, and debates are supposed to be show each candidate policies not conspiracy theories pushed by unhinged TV personalities.

Vivek was like a used car salesman. That was my first time seeing him talk and that was not a good impression. Haley was more composed and better prepared and had better responses. We don’t need another extremist with no experience in the White House. We already had Obama and Trump fill those roles.

I’m not a republican but I did watch parts of the debate. I agree with you about Vivek, so smarmy and slick. I liked how Haley got her point across and seemed knowledgeable. As an Independent, I do try to be objective.
While my vote will not go to the GOP, which has been in disarray for a long time, I do agree with most of your comments.My opinion differs in that I don’t view Obama as an extremist.

Maria Bartiroma is by far the best choice to moderate the debate. Her previous performances as debate moderator have proven she is far superior to all the rest.
And Dana Perino is not a Fox Business anchor so why is she even considered for the Fox Business Debate?
Maria would have been great. Dana is to milk toast to handle a debate. Fox, again making a bad move.

This decision to axe Maria from asking questions at the debate is absolute horse pucky!!! She is brilliant, and asks straight forward questions that others just dance around. Put her back on!!!
maria bartiromo is an excellent moderator smart and knows how to get the
best response out of the debators.. neil cavuto is not as savvy as maria
because he hates donald trump and it shows. fox is getting to be to cocky
on what they do and maybe they are going down the toilet like the rest of the
news stations such as CBS NBC ABC CNN .. maria will probably go to
