Chinese ‘Belt And Road’ Initiative Creates The Top Ten Clusters Of China's Textile And Garment Industry

The Chinese ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, created by the People’s Republic, has achieved transformational and innovative development in the Textile and Garment Industries all over China.

Specialism and concentration of resources has created ten centres of excellence within the Textile Industry, where exhibition platforms, online connection and infrastructure proximity combine together to give the International Buyer a rewarding and commercially intense visit.

The Centres are

1. China Woolen Sweater Town — Dalang Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province

Highlights: Dalang Town has excellent industrial support, and has won the titles of "China's Woolen Sweater Town" and "National Demonstration Base of Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading". Annual trading volume of Dalang wool fabric market reached CNY 60 billion, accounting for more than 70% of the total sales of Guangdong Province.

The woolen industry is the characteristic industry and pillar industry of Dalang Town, accounting for about one-third of the total industrial economy of the town. At present, there are more than 13,000 woolen enterprises in the town.

By the end of October 2018, the industrial added value above the designated size of Dalang Town reached CNY 10.27 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. In the list of 2018 China's comprehensive town, Dalang Town ranked 35 overall, up 4 places from 2017.

2. China Women's Wear Town & China Children's Wear Town — Humen Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province

Highlights: Humen Town develops the apparel industry vigorously, and has formed a large-scale industrial cluster, a well-equipped industrial chain, and a mature market system. Humen Town has become a famous Chinese apparel town at home and abroad.

The apparel industry is a characteristic industry of Humen Town. Nowadays, Humen Town has more than 50,000 registered apparel brands, 2 "China Famous Brand" and 19 famous trademarks of Guangdong Province, forming a strong brand effect.

Humen International Fashion Fair is an important testimony to Humen's transformation. In 2018, the exhibition area of the Fashion Fair totaled more than 300,000 square meters. Meanwhile, it also has 20 sub-venues, attracting the attention of many buyers and professional visitors from home and abroad.

3. China Men's Wear Town — Rongcheng County, Hebei Province

Highlights: In the year of the establishment of Xiong'an New District, Rongcheng County has carried out many improvement measures in cluster planning, park construction, market expansion and enterprise transformation, promoting the transformation of Xiong'an New District into a city of fashion and vitality.

Rongcheng County is a well-known garment and accessories distribution center in northern China. At present, there are nearly 1,000 garment enterprises in the county, with an annual output of 450 million pieces (sets) of garment. Thereinto, 12 enterprises have over CNY 100 million of sales income.

The establishment of Xiong'an New District has stimulated the driving force of various market players to participate in the construction of the new district. Rongcheng County has cooperated with a number of research institutes to establish industry-university-research cooperation, and jointly established the Garment Research and Design Center, Baoding Baiyang Lake Garment Culture and Creative Center of Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, etc., so as to establish a cooperation platform among governments, universities, enterprises and research institutes.

4. China Casual Wear City & China's Famous Cashmere Product City —Changshu City, Jiangsu Province

Highlights: Changshu City, Jiangsu Province is China's Textile Industry Base City, and famous China Casual Wear City. Jiangsu Changshu Garment City is not only China's largest professional garment circulation market, but also an important part of the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive test area.

The garment industry is an important pillar-type traditional industry in Changshu. As a famous textile and garment industry cluster in China, Changshu cluster has a complete textile and garment industrial chain, and gathers more than 5,000 textile and apparel enterprises such as Bosideng, Menglan, etc. Meanwhile, the integration with the Internet has not only optimized the structure of the apparel industry, but also accelerated the coordinated development among intelligent manufacturing, Internet economy, modern logistics, and cultural creativity in Changshu.

5. China Silk Town & China Textile Town — Shengze Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province

Highlights: Shengze Town is the most important R&D and production base for silk and chemical fiber fabric in Jiangsu and even China.

Shengze Town is one of the first pilot townships in the reform of the administrative management system of economically developed towns in China, owning more than 2,500 textile enterprises. Thereinto, it has several well-known large-scale textile enterprises, including Shenghong Group, Hengli Group, etc.

6. China Environmental Filter Industrial Base — Funing County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province

Highlights: In 2018, Funing County played the leading role of the environmental filter industry alliance, and strives to build an environmental filter industrial base with a whole industry chain.

In recent years, Funing County has focused on the cluster development, planning to build an environmental filter industrial park of 5.5 square kilometres, focusing on building a smart manufacturing demonstration park and a smart filter industry town, attracting leading enterprises into the cluster. Currently, there are 58 companies have now entered the industrial park.

Funing County adheres to the guidance of scientific and technological innovation. Relying on 12 national-level high-tech enterprises, Funing County accelerates the construction of R&D centers, exhibition centers, and builds national-level training centers and testing centers. Meanwhile, Funing County strengthened its policy guidance and promoted the establishment of a special guiding fund for industrial development, so as to create a good environment for industrial development.

7. China Spandex Yarn Town — Jingang Town, Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province

Highlights: Zhangjiagang City has gradually expanded its market share with its own industrial base and innovative products, and has also formed a number of influential enterprises.

Spandex core-spun yarn industry of Zhangjiagang City originated in the 1990s. After nearly 20 years' hard work, there are about 350 spandex yarn enterprises in Zhangjiagang City, of which 53 enterprises above designated size, providing employment opportunities to 25,000 people.

Facing the complicated external environment, textile enterprises in Jingang Town have changed the original single product model initiatively. Together with professional universities, Jingang Town has developed more than 100 yarn varieties, including pure cotton, polyester/cotton blended yarn, polyester/viscose blended yarn, wrapped yarn, etc. As of the end of October of 2018, the sales of spandex yarn in Jingang Town reached CNY 10.15 billion, accounting for 28.8% of the total sales in town, seeing a year-on-year increase of 11.13%, which made great contributions to the development of end-product.

8. China New-developing Textile Industrial Base — Litong District, Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

Highlights: Litong District of Wuzhong City actively explored and innovated the industrial poverty alleviation model, changed the original poverty alleviation model, and promoted the enthusiasm of local people for employment and entrepreneurship, which greatly promoted local economic development. Wuzhong City has successively introduced a number of domestic textile enterprises. By exploring the industrial poverty alleviation model of "government + enterprise + poor households", Wuzhong City has achieved a new transformation of poverty alleviation model, and has formed an industrial chain integrating spinning, weaving, warehousing, functional fabrics and garment production.

9. China Textile Industrial Base — Keqiao District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province

Highlights: Keqiao District takes "technology, fashion and sustainability" as its orientation, insists on the combination of "going global" and "bringing in", so as to develop a new path for traditional textile industry.

Keqiao District is one of the largest textile industrial cluster bases in China, ranking 12th among the top 100 national districts. The total production capacity of the textile industry in Keqiao District accounts for about 10% of the total of China. Its sales network covers 192 countries and regions around the world. A quarter of the world's fabrics are traded here every year, and nearly one-half of China's textile enterprises have established production and sales relationships with Keqiao District.

In September, 2018, the first World Textile Merchandising Conference was successfully held in Keqiao and permanently settled in Keqiao. During that period, action plan of "Silk Road in Keqiao, Connect Whole World Together" was released to deepen opening to the outside world. Several series activities, including China-EU Fashion Dream Incubator Industry Federation, Keqiao Textile Expo, Fashion Week, etc., have further enhanced Keqiao's influence in the textile industry.

10. China Famous Sock Town — Datang Town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province

Highlights: Datang Town takes the five aspects as the starting point, including "talent plus", "innovation plus", "creation plus", "Internet plus" and "finance plus", constantly refreshing the outside world's awareness of the sock industry and becoming a unique sock town in the world.

Take the think tank of the sock industry as the basis, Datang Town has built nine innovative service systems, including Zhejiang Textile Socks Research Institute, Brand Protection and Promotion Center, etc., which has formed a socks innovative series complex. And this service complex was selected into the first batch of provincial-level creation and cultivation lists.
